My Quick Tips for Consistent Weight Loss

It’s been a while… since I posted and I’ve actually had quite a few wins in my journey! I started a weight loss program around April and since then I have lost 30 pounds. It has been a bumpy ride and it's such a great feeling. My clothes are starting to become looser and I’m a little more excited to be out socializing.

Today I want to share some quick tips on being consistent with weight loss that works for me. I struggle from time to time with consistency and these are the things that help me stay on track:

Have a Plan

A couple of months ago I participated in a support group with other women who are also going through their weight loss journeys. I learned so much about myself during this group and it was nice to connect with other people with similar stories. I discovered that what helps me the most is planning my meals, counting my macros, and not deviating from that plan. During September I lost 9 pounds it was because I stuck to a consistent plan and routine with my eating habits. Meal planning can be overwhelming but it is a lifesaver and it helps me stay accountable. Secondly, if I am going to be social - I always look at the menu before going to any place and figure out what I’m eating before I get there. This way I can’t be influenced by peers and I feel more in control.

Grab a friend

Walking is a great low-impact exercise while on a lower-calorie diet and it's even better with a friend. Being outside improves your mood and overall mental health. When I am in a funky mood, my first idea is to call a friend to spend time with, and going on a walk gets you both active and feels great in the end. One of my friends and I went on a 4-mile walk not too long ago and it honestly was so great to catch up that it didn’t even seem that long!

Believe in yourself

Self-love and appreciation are something that I struggle with on so many levels. I give a lot of myself to other people and I am so caring but I rarely extend that support to myself. I’ve been giving myself more credit for my successes even if others can’t see them yet. When I meet my daily water goals my skin looks better and I have more energy. I’m getting happier and happier with whom I see in the mirror and I feel accomplished when I meet my calorie goals!

I hope this helps others who are going through a similar journey. Remember to be kind to yourself!
